This is mcdonalds, their catch phrase is as the picture says. How this is using semiotics is by ingraining the tune "im lovin it" so that everytime you see a big golden arch or see their commercial on TV you'll immediately recognize that its mcdonalds by singing the tune.

Semiotics
Semiotics is the study of signs. More specifically semiotics in the context of advertising is where advertisers try to relate a persons emotion so strongly that the consumer is compelled to buy the product though they may not need it.
This is mcdonalds, their catch phrase is as the picture says. How this is using semiotics is by ingraining the tune "im lovin it" so that everytime you see a big golden arch or see their commercial on TV you'll immediately recognize that its mcdonalds by singing the tune.

Good cause advertising...
Good cause advertising can be compared to the green movement in a number of ways. There are two types of businesses that associate themselves with the green movement. One is trying to promote the cause of sustainability and environmental awareness, while partake in a process known as green washing. Green washing, is defined by a party who is deliberately taking advantage of the green movement seeming to be proactive about environmental health when in fact theyre simply taking advantage of the popularity of the movement.
Analogously for good cause advertising there are two types of businesses. The first type of business that uses good cause advertising legitimately has a vested interest propagating an idea for society.

I like to think about advertising as a complete mind f*ck. I love it because you can manipulate the way someone views an image or video by tweaking virtually anything in the image.
for example:
Without the words in the picture, its just john goodman in The Big Lebowski. Though this isn't really an advertisement its just a meme but the concept behind it is relatively the same. Not only do ads persuade, but they also create images and brands which can often be synonymous with your personality. It's a double edged sword when an ad can tell you if what your drinking is considered cool or what breath mint you choose will let you get laid. I feel like it creates less individuality within people because ads can sway someone's opinion on something so much its as if your not thinking for yourself.
I also just like the art of an ad. all the ingenuity an ad must be is pretty awesome.
